Covered in Rain

Taylor Swift has been getting some big ups about her Fearless tour (John Mayer, The Cab, Perez Hilton). So I was really disappointed that all her shows were sold out within milliseconds; until, that is, she was scheduled to preform at NBC's Today Show! Since she was to preform between 8:30 - 9:00 this morning, my friends and I decided to leave obnoxiously early last night and finally got to the city at around 2AM. Let me begin by saying that New York City is really beautiful at night. So beautiful that the rest of the night's unfortunate events miraculously seem less potent.

Less potent? Yes. Unforgettable? Hell No! First, we sat on line for hours. Getting there so early you'd think we'd be somewhere in the beginning but no, people were camping out and sleeping on the streets! The waiting around was actually quite tolerable, until the rain hit. And this wasn't just any rain. It was RAIN! Monsoon-like, if you will. We got sopping wet and could ring out our clothing. Garbage was floating down the street as if it were a river. There was nothing in sight but a sea of umbrellas. Hence, it was that kind of RAIN!

Our View

Once ushered into the taping area, the four of us got separated but Dee and I held on to each other for dear life and were accidently shoved up front during a stampede!  Although Taylor was right in front of us, we couldn't see her at all! The set-up sucked so bad and the stage wasn't elevated. So everyone who surpassed the first couple of rows couldn't see anything!  It was so disappointing.  She sounded amazing though.  And even sung "Umbrella" during her soundcheck!  She's so sweet and you could tell that she felt bad about not being able to go to the middle stage.  And I don't even blame security for not letting her. The crowed was intense and it wouldn't have been safe.

The only picture I got of Taylor.
"What a rainy ending given to a perfect day."

Now that I've napped and showered, I plan on writing a very passionate letter to the Douches at NBC.  I know it makes for good TV to have an artist up-close and personal with the few "fans" (aka the kids of NBC employees) in the VP section but it is truly unfair for the HUNDREDS of fans who travel to NY from all over the country and aren't even able to catch a glimpse of their favorite musician because the stage is too close to the ground.  This little glitch in your Today Show Concert Series needs to be worked out, pronto!

I think this was one of the 'best/worst' days ever! Almost like washington.... but i think washington sounds a little better right now.

So do I! Nad and Dee disagree on the "best" part though. But our suffering was kind of fun!
